Merry
Alegre, contento. Una expresión muy común es «Eat, drink and be merry!»
«Don’t worry about that, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it! For now eat, drink and be merry!»
Tipsy
Con el puntillo, achispado, entonado.
«I seem to speak better English whenever I’m a bit tipsy.»
To have your beer goggles on
Llevar las gafas de cerveza puestas. ‘Goggles’ son las gafas de bucear. Si llevas este tipo de gafas puestas, intenta no llevarte a casa nuevos amigos.
«Did you see her looking at me? She’s really attractive.»
«You must have your beer googles on because that’s either a man or a woman with a moustache.»
Legless
«My boss was necking champagne and tequila shots at the Christmas party and ended up embarrassing himself.»
«He was completely legless by the end of the night.»
Wasted
‘To waste’ quiere decir despediciar, derrochar, perder (tiempo o dinero).
«I walked back with John after the concert last night and he was so wasted that he doesn’t remember how he got back home.»
Pissed
«I can’t put up with karaoke and pissed people. It really is a fatal combination.»
Hammered, smashed, plastered.
- Hammer = martillo.
- To smash = romper, destrozar.
- Plaster = escayola, yeso. También significa tirita.
Ya te haces a la idea, ¿no?
«I haven’t had a single drop of alcohol since the night I got totally smashed and woke up on a boat on the river Thames.»
Y nuestra favorita …
As drunk as a skunk
Borracho como una mofeta.
«Would you like a tequila shot?»
«Oh, no thank you, last time I tried tequila, I got as drunk as a skunk!»
