¡Ir al pub a tomar una cervecita o una copa de vino el viernes por la tarde es casi un ritual en el Reino Unido!
Hoy te traemos unas expresiones en inglés para los más fiesteros:
1. To paint the town red!
Irse de juerga, salir de marcha.
“It’s my 30th birthday this weekend and I’m ready to paint the town red.”
2. To put on your dancing shoes
Ponerse los zapatos de bailar.
“Put on your dancing shoes and I’ll see you at the concert tonight.”
3. To let your hair down
Soltarse la melena.
“When was the last time you went to a party? 5 years ago? I think it’s about time to let your hair down.”
4. To be life and soul of the party
Ser el alma de la fiesta.
“It’s such a pity that Lewis is not coming tonight, he’s the life and soul of the party.”
5. Party pooper
Un ‘party pooper’ es un aguafiestas. La manera formal de decirlo sería ‘spoilsport’, que literalmente es ‘arruina deportes’.
-“How was your graduation party?”
-“It was all going smoothly until my neighbour decided to call the police.”
-“Oh dear, what a party pooper!”
6. To party hard
Ser muy fiestero.
“My workmates party hard every Friday, I can’t keep up with their pace.”
7. To throw a party
Dar/montar una fiesta.
“What are you doing next Friday? I’m planning to throw a party in my back garden, are you up for it?”
8. To be a party animal
Ser muy fiestero.
“I used to be a party animal when I was younger, I went out every Saturday till the sun came up.”
9. House-warming party
Fiesta de inauguración cuando te ha mudado a una nueva casa.
“What should I bring to Sarah’s house-warming party?”
“Well, you know she loves red wine and flowers, so that’s pretty easy.”
10. Bottoms up!
Se puede usar para brindar o para referirse a que hay que acabarse la bebida.
“The bar is closing in 10 minutes, bottoms up everyone.”

Tengo una duda con la 6, en este caso, party parece que hace las veces de verbo, ¿se conjugaría en la tercera persona del singular?

Party se puede usar como sustantivo, pero también como verbo: to party.
She never misses a party.
She parties every weekend.
