Parece que la vieja Europa empieza a enterarse de qué va esto del velo. Seguramente, la no tan lejana (aunque parezca que sí) Segunda Guerra Mundial, en la que murieron cerca de 60 millones de personas en el mundo, ha hecho del pueblo europeo un pueblo mayoritariamente pacífico, tolerante al máximo con quienes practican otras costumbres, defensor acérrimo del sistema democrático, del parlamentarismo, del diálogo aunque se tengan ideas opuestas, de los derechos humanos, de la libertad de la mujer, de la igualdad entre sexos…
Pero esta vieja Europa ahora se encuentra perdida; no sabe qué hacer; no entiende cómo después de dos, tres, generaciones, miles de musulmanes, ya ciudadanos europeos, sí, combaten y reniegan en su propio país (Holanda, Francia, Alemania…) de estos principios de libertad e igualdad. La impresión que se tiene, es que Europa no comprende qué está ocurriendo. Se encuentra con que, entre sus ciudadanos, hay miles que hacen caso omiso de los ya consolidados principios citados. El que más se trasgrede, entre estos principios no respetados, es el que defiende la igualdad y el respeto, en todos los órdenes, de las mujeres. Se le impone a las niñas, por ejemplo, que lleven el velo; incluso que lleven el velo para ir a escuela; con todas les restricciones que entraña en su comportamiento social.
Pero, afortunadamente, parece que esto va a corregirse. Que muy pronto ya no será posible humillar tanto a las mujeres; al menos en el ámbito escolar.
Hoy se vota en la Eurocámara un informe que pide que se prohíba el velo, de momento, sólo en las escuelas. Esperamos que salga adelante; se trata de proteger los derechos de la infancia y de la mujer; de su libertad.
A mi entender, hay dos razones que no admiten dudas a la hora de proponer esta prohibición: una, que el velo es un instrumento perverso del hombre para esconder, oprimir, someter y humillar a la mujer, al margen de toda connotación religiosa. La imposición del velo viene de antes, incluso, de que existiesen las religiones monoteístas. Y dos, que hoy sí, sí, el velo es utilizado por muchos grupos radicales islámicos para hacer proselitismo, para identificar a sus adeptos, para señalar quiénes están con ellos y quiénes no lo están, para controlar y a una población femenina que, por ejemplo, en Marruecos, cada día vemos que va más tapada, más escondida detrás de esos hermosos hiyads, chadores, niqads, burkas… o como queramos llamarlos, y que nada tienen que ver con la moda, la tradición o las costumbres sociales. Porque hoy, se quiera o no, el velo es un instrumento político, de opresión y sometimiento, que los hombres emplean para controlar a las mujeres.
Los europeos no somos un «pueblo tolerante», somos un pueblo «acomodado», que es muy diferente. Si nos quitan un par de días el agua corriente, la luz eléctrica, el gas ciudad y cuatro cosas más, ya verías en qué queda esa tolerancia. De acuerdo con Ijon Tichy. Los europeos viven bien (no sé si podemos meter a la España mileurista en el mismo saco que a un danés) y son pacíficos por esto mismo.Los viejos imperialismos o colonialismos de los británicos o franceses se han sustituido por el nuevo: el imperialismo económico. Europa lo ejerce cuando USA, Rusia, China y demás gigantes le dejan.Y por lo demas, con la llegada de la próxima Crisis Energética veremos (lamentablemente) el final de este pacifismo tan democrático que disfrutamos. ¿O alguien cree que USA invadio Irak para derrocar a Sadam Hussein?

acaban de dar la noticia de que la votación del parlamento europeo ha dicho no a la prohibición del velo en las escuelas….!!no somos más tontos porque no nos entrenamos!! como dijo el dirigente musulmán radical «utilizaremos su democracia para destruir la democracia»
