Se llaman Ken-chan y Go-chan. Una pareja. Un gato negro y otro anaranjado, y son célebres en las redes sociales por poner en aprietos al guardia de seguridad del museo de arte Onomichi en Japón. Dos gatos raros, pues parecen tener gustos artísticos, ansias de conocimiento. Un olfato propio de un curador unido a la actitud sibilina de un ninja a sueldo del emperador. Gatos que llevan dos años intentado entrar (por ahora sin éxito) en ese museo, utilizando casi todos los días las mismas técnicas.

Lo curioso del caso es que Ken-chan, el gato negro, fue el primero en intentar penetrar en el museo en el año 2016, justo cuando se presentó una exposición fotográfica cuya temática se centraba precisamente en los gatos. Demasiadas fotografías juntas de sus congéneres. Algunos tan negros como él. Puede que allí surgiera la vena artística, la pulsión atractiva, puede que creyera entonces que su espacio estaba dentro y no fuera.

Más tarde apareció en escena el pelirrojo, su compinche. Mejor dos que uno. Mirada entre perdida y desafiante. Maestro felino en hacerse la estatua de porcelana. Cara de inmigrante español en la cola de un selecto club nocturno berlinés. El museo ha sabido encontrar el filón de esta relación inusual. Publican vídeos y fotografías de las andanzas de los dos visitantes frustrados, sus intentos por superar la infranqueable muralla del guardián bonachón.

Ellos seguirán intentándolo, duermen en un parque cercano. Al guardián parece gustarle el encuentro matutino. Mientras tanto en Internet crecen las voces para que un día les dejen por fin entrar en el museo.

JEFFY’S DAILY MEWS TRAVEL BEAT ONOMICHI, Japan — We kitties have smooth moves, and love the finer things in life, like sushi and catnip, but two felines in Japan are really cultured kitties. 🐾 A couple of years ago, a lone intruder tried to gain entry to the Onomichi City Museum of Art in Hiroshima, Japan without paying.  The door crasher was not a cat burglar or an art thief, but a black cat with an eye for art. The museum curator speculated he was interested in the black cats photographs on exhibit at the time. After two years of daily attempted gate crashing, the black cat, named Ken-chan by museum staff, acquired an accomplice, an orange tabby now called Go-chan.🐾 The museum entrance employs automatic glass doors activated by pressure pads that can triggers by 10 to 12 pounds of feline magnificence. Sometimes the Chan brothers make it past the door, but never far enough to see the art works. 🐾VWhile these furry wannabe art critics aren’t homeless, (staff knows they have families but have failed to locate their Cat Cave), they haven’t been able to cough up the 300 yen ($2.65) for admission fee. You would think the museum would waive the fee since they sell all sorts of memorabilia bearing with the celebricats’ images. Fortunately, museum security has a catch and release policy when it comes these attempted trespassers. 🐾 Instagram felines, contact the Onomichi museum and ask them to rescind their discriminatory admissions policy. Feline art lovers deserve to satisfy their higher selves. While you’re at it, ask them to drop the works to about an 18-inch level for optimum viewing.🐾 So, if your cats could gain admission to the museum, what kind of exhibit would they be most interested in?
