One year ago I got a call from my good friend @ErnestZacharevic to take a part in @SplashAndBurn, an awareness campaign responding creatively to unregulated farming practices of Palm Oil in Indonesia – tackling issues such as the transboundary haze, Deforestation, Human and Animal displacement. Murals/sculptures and interventions have been appearing throughout cities in the vast natural landscape of Sumatra. Once there, I had the chance to learn more about Indonesian society and culture – painting a wall in a small village of farmers, we would share lunch together while building an installation of three robotic orangutans; in a simple workshop that adjusted the local Becak. Being there showed me first hand that intentions and and actions often don't match, sharing experience through art was an easy and direct way to communicate the issues in growing and fighting together… "Orangutan" is a 10 layer screen printed edition of 60 to be available on PixelPancho.shop on Thursday the 2nd of November. Part of the proceeds will be donated to The Sumatran Orangutan Society and Splash and Burn as they continue their effort in raising awareness of the dangers faced by the Sumatran Orangutan and the Leuser Eco System. . . #splashandburn #pixelpancho #conflictpalmoil
