Ha muerto María Isbert y me apena pensar que para la mayoría de adolescentes y veinteañeros ese nombre no significa nada. Y muchos menos el nombre de su padre, Pepe Isbert. ¿Que por qué me da pena? Porque pienso lo injustos que somos los españoles con nuestros actores, con nuestros grandes secundarios (como María) y con nuestros geniales protagonistas (como Pepe).
Hace muchos años, tal vez diez (puf, qué rápido pasa el tiempo), coincidí con María Isbert en una entrega de premios cinematográficos en el Teatro Real. Ella se sentaba justo detrás de mí y creo recordar que la acompañaba su hijo Tony, aunque no podría asegurarlo. La gente revoloteaba a su alrededor, la saludaba, le reía las ocurrencias, le regalaban el oído. Ella estaba feliz, se la veía muy anciana ya (ha muerto con 94 años) y muy débil, pero irradiaba alegría y buen humor. Hablaba muy alto y sonreía a todo el que la miraba. Yo lo hice repetidamente, sin disimulos, embelesada, porque la veía a ella, pero también al irrepetible Pepe Isbert a través de su mirada y sus gestos, y no podía evitar pensar que ella y su padre eran parte fundamental de la historia del cine español. . Ese cine que al que la mayoría da la espalda, pero que también cuenta con películas sobresalientes, como algunas de las que protagonizó María, como la mayoría de las que protagonizó Pepe; y desde luego el cine español cuanta con actores que otros sitios serían objeto de homenajes y ciclos televisivos, como los que se merecerían ellos dos.
Ya puestos, parece una buena idea, ¿no? ¿Dónde hay que firmar para pedir que les dediquen un ciclo en La 2? Los vídeos corresponden a ‘Amanece que no es poco’ y ‘La gran aventura de Mortadelo y Filemón’.
