Parecía que la polémica se iba a ir diluyendo conforme pasara el tiempo y se alejaran los aplausos que Natalie Portman logró con el Oscar, pero lejos de amainar, arrecia.
La bailarina Sarah Lane sigue insistiendo en que parte del mérito del premio logrado por Portman en ‘Cisne negro‘ es suyo y que en la mayoría de planos de baile es su cuerpo el que ven los espectadores.
Felicidades Lane, bailas de maravilla, tu trabajo es muy meritorio. Tienes un cuerpo precioso y seguramente en The American Ballet Theatre están muy satisfechos contigo, pero, déjalo ya, please. Intentar restar algo de mérito al trabajo de Portman es absurdo. Su interpretación va mucho más allá del baile (algo anecdótico, a pesar de tratarse de una película de ballet).
Portman brilla por haber sabido transformar su cara y sus gestos conforme avanza la película; por haber sabido trasmitir la mezcla de dulzura, angustia y desesperación que describía el guión. Nadie cree que le hayan concedido un premio por bailar como Maya Plisetskaya, a pesar de que seguramente habrán valorado el esfuerzo de que lo haya intentado. No obstante, viendo como funciona la maquinaria de Hollywood y sus premios, probablemente haya tenido más que ver en su triunfo el dinero invertido por sus productores en promocionar la película.
Sin embargo, sí hay parte del discurso de Lane que comparto. Entiendo sus críticas sobre cómo los productores ‘han vendido’ que Portman es una especie de talento del baile, que ha logrado en año y medio lo que ella le ha costado una vida conseguir. Lane dice que es injusto y ofensivo para los bailarines profesionales. Lo es, pero es pura propaganda, marketing que ayuda a crear la magia del cine y convierte a los actores en estrellas superdotadas. Forma parte del mismo ‘engaño’ en el que participan los especialistas que asumen los riesgos de las escenas de acción en lugar de los actores; es la misma ilusión que ayudan a crear los maquilladores y los expertos en efectos especiales. Estamos hablando del cine.
En la misma línea de marketing actoral/peliculero yo metería esa costumbre cada vez más descarada de glosar las hazañas sobrehumanas de los actores durante los rodaje. ¿Cuántas veces hemos oído que fulanito, que es más chulo que un ocho y pasa de extras, estuvo a punto de morir ahogado, electrocutado, envenenado o devorado por la marabunta, etc. …mientras rodaba la escena clave del megahit de turno? ¿Y qué me decís de menganito, que adelgazó tonelada y media para meterse en el papel? ¿Y aquella otra que se infiltró un mes y medio en el cartel de Medellín para absorber ideas y documentarse para un papel? Cine, cine, cine… Criticar lo evidente (mentira, exageración… otros lo llamarían magia) es cuestionar la esencia misma del cine.
