Tras la ceremonia de los Globos de Oro no se habla de otra cosa: que si Ricky Gervais fue un grosero, que se pasó, que si no volverán a contratarlo, que si antes era un tipo gordito, pero gracioso, y ahora ninguna de las dos cosas… Nada sobre el merecido premio a Colin Firth o sobre si ‘La red social’ acabará llevándose los Oscar más cotizados, como anticipan los Globos… El cine ha pasado a un segundo plano tras la intervención de Ricky Gervais.
Os iba a hacer un resumen de sus frases más polémicas, pero ya hay colgado en Youtube un vídeo subtitulado, que os dejo bajo estas líneas para que juzguéis por vosotros mismos.
Después de esto, el tsunami de protestas. Al parecer los representantes de algunas estrellas aludidas por Gervais se han quejado y la Asociación de la Prensa Extranjera de Hollywood (HFPA), responsable del evento y que también sufrió los dardos envenenados de Gervais, no sabe si enfadarse con él o darle las gracias porque hoy todo el mundo hable de la ceremonia. Algunos de sus miembros han anunciado que Gervais nunca más volverá a presentar los Globos de Oro (algo que el propio Gervais ya había vaticinado antes de comenzar la gala y que se da ya por hecho) y el presidente de la asociación, Phillip Berk, le ha dicho que «se pasó» y que cuando vuelva a necesitar su ayuda, «que se busque a otro». Pero renglón seguido, quizá ablandado por los buenos índices de audiencia, ha comentado que le gustó el show porque había sido uno de los mejores y que, «Gervais es Gervais y ya se sabe qué se puede esperar cuando se contrata a alguien como él«.
No sé qué os habrá parecido a vosotros el estilo Gervais. A mí, aunque reconozco que es demasiado brutal a veces (sobre todo me pongo en la piel del padre de Charlie Sheen, el pobre Martin, y sufro un poco), me ha encantado. Es un espectáculo, con mucha mala leche, pero también con mucha agudeza. Además Gervais trabaja con material, digámoslo en términos cinematográficos, ‘basado en hechos reales‘. Él distorsiona al alza, como hace casi todo el humor, las situaciones absurdas del mundo del cine y le da un poquito de caña a unos personajes privilegiados (en muchos casos unos auténticos niños mimados) muy poco acostumbrados a tomarse con humor su profesión y su vida. Si ése es el único mal rato que me van a hacer pasar profesionalmente, yo firmo ahora mismo.
Presentar a Bruce Willis como «el padre de Ashton Kutcher» solo puede parecerle mal a un rácano de espíritu.
Gervais, si no te quieren en los Globos de Oro, que Álex de la Iglesia te haga un hueco en los Goya. A lo mejor así conseguimos, por fin, terminar de ver la gala sin zapear.

A mí personalmente me ocurre algo similar, me he reído tanto con el humor inteligente de Gervais que yo creo que hay perdonarle el haberse pasado, porque sí, se pasó un poquito.
Los personajes públicos han de saber tomarse las críticas con humor. La última gala de los Goya, a pesar de los esfuerzos de Buenafuente, también se respiraba tensión y malhumor, se oyeron pocas risas y demasiados llantos. No quiero ni pensar lo que habría ocurrido con Gervais de presentador: me imagino a la mitad de los asistentes yéndose a mitad de la gala.
