Cuentos de almas

Cabeza de Perro es una película sobre el alma. O sobre el cerebro. O sobre la electricidad. Sobre como el amor puede conectar todo eso que a veces se escacharra. Y es, sobre todo, un cuento. Santiago Amodeo, tiene 37 años, y escribió la película después de obsesionarse con Vladimir Propp, que fue un señor ruso sabio y paciente que a principios del siglo XX se dejó los ojos en leer una y mil veces cientos de cuentos populares hasta que encontró el gen de la fantasía, el núcleo, y el orden y la forma en las que está hechas todas las historias. Amodeo cruzó esa geometría fantástica con el despertar de un adolescente al que a veces se le descarga la cabeza y al que su familia protege como a una delicada pieza de cristal. Un azar le desamarra de los mimos y le ata a la libertad, le lleva al Madrid de las obras, los luminosos, las horas muertas y los encuentros inesperados Y ahí sus desconexiones -de repente, en un chispazo, ni ve, ni oye, ni habla, ni recuerda- sin el algodón de su familia, le dejan definitivamente, a la intemperie.

Cabeza de Perro es un viaje de iniciación y hay una bruja, y un falso héroe, y un agresor y un consejero, y fechorías, pruebas, engaños y regalos, todo lo que tiene que tener un cuento, hasta la voz de un narrador que, a veces, molesta como un espejo retrovisor. Y, claro hay una princesa, tan desconectada, tan fuera de sitio como el chico. De eso se trata, al cabo, de si el chico y la chica se juntan. Y para eso Amodeo hace un cine y enseña un Madrid con otros planos y otras ópticas de las vistas, y coloca una música que no se oye a menudo en otras pantallas y busca sonidos con su propia marca. Además, Juan José Ballesta se sale del corsé barriobajero al que se veía condenado y tiene la inmensa suerte de encontrar a Adiana Ugarte, que le deslumbra, como a cualquiera. Con ellos dos Amodeo nos da una historia sobre padres e hijos, únicos y diferentes y sobre qué es y cómo se es normal, y si se puede.

Amodeo deslumbró a muchos, a mí, por ejemplo, con Bancos un potente cortometraje que firmó con Alberto Rodrìguez, el hombre de El traje y de Siete Vìrgenes, con el que también había hecho El Factor Pilgrim, una desinhibida artesanía pop. Luego llegó Astronautas, donde como aquí, se atrevía a contar una historia realista con elementos y estéticas de ahora mismo. Hay efectos visuales, y cámaras distorsionadas, y sonido editados sobre y, sobre todo, una apuesta diferente, personal y nada impostada por hacer otro cine que nos guste. Amodeo es de Sevilla del mismo barrio que Jonze, Michel Gondry o Paul Thomas Anderson, por ejemplo. A mi me ha gustado. Si tuviera 20 años, todavía más.

Como en los buenos, en los mejores cuentos, el final de Nueve Vidas, la última historia, el último plano, obliga a volver a mirar la película de otra forma. Nueve historias de mujeres, en tiempo real, pero con misterio. Al fin y al cabo, y así se dice, nada hay más real que un espejismo. A Rodrigo García, hijo de su padre, le han enseñado muy bien la necesidad de ese chasquido final.

Cosas que pasan en los rincones. Hay cuentos que terminan mal. En una rincón de esta exposición en Barcelona, de Malick Sadibé, las promesas que no se han cumplido en Africa. Algunas ya nunca podrán cumplirse.

Ya era hora.Esta vez creo te falla el callejero de La Netro emocional cuando colocas en el mismo barrio a dos fabricantes de artificios (Jonze & Gondry) y a P.T. Anderson.Es, a mi entender, como emparentar a Palahniuk con Chejov.Anderson es tan clásico como Ford y Sturges. Los otros dos venden buenas marcas de ropa.Salud y buena mar.
