Estás perdido por Londres y le preguntas a una entrañable abuelita que ves por la calle:
«Excuse me, can you tell me the best way to get to Liverpool Street Station?»
Y ella responde:
«Absolutely, go across this road, then through the tunnel, take the third right, go up the stairs, climb up the biggest tree, feed a squirrel, then hop on your right foot for 5 metres and when you see the bus stop next to the tall pink building, jump on the bus and ask the driver to stop when he feels the need to sneeze.»
Primero pensarías «Thank you for nothing», después que está chalada y por último le soltarías un «WHAT?!»
Especialmente en entornos formales, es preferible que cuando no entiendas algo, utilices alguna de estas opciones:
Formal
- Sorry?
- Excuse me?
- Pardon?
- I beg your pardon? (British English)
Informal
- Come again?
- Sorry, what?
- I don’t get it.
- Say what? (American English)
Expresiones
- «It’s all Greek to me»: me suena a chino.
«I tried to explain how to make a vegetable stew to my dad, but he says cooking is all Greek to him.»
- «This is as clear as mud to me»: tan claro como el lodo.
«The instructions for this dishwasher are a bit confusing, aren’t they?»
«Yep, clear as mud.»
Mucho mejor ahora, ¿no? Like a boss! ¡Gracias por pasarte por La hora del té!
Keep calm & learn English!💂♂️🇬🇧✌️
Aim stoc on da muun.

Yo creo que lo que procede es darle un capón a la deliciosa abuelita por querer tomarnos el pelo.
