Paseando por Cambridge nos encontramos con esta magnífica puerta de estilo victoriano situada en la calle Orchard número 33, que es paralela nada más y nada menos que a la calle Elm Street.
Pensé que esta calle solo existía en la ficción, porque la verdad es que me cuesta imaginar a Freddy Krueger con su tacita de porcelana tomando el té de las cinco detrás de estas elegantes fachadas.

Veamos si tú también estás cometiendo el típico error al dar una dirección en inglés. Imagina que vives en la casa de la foto, tu dirección sería: Calle Orchard número 33.
👉 ¿Cuál es tu dirección?
What’s your address? I live at 33 Orchard Street.
Normalmente por error decimos: I live in Orchard Street number 33.
👉 ¿En qué calle vives?
What street do you live on? I live on Orchard Street.
En este caso al no especificar el número, se usa la preposición ‘on‘.
👉 ¿Y si solo quieres decir la ciudad o país en el que vives?
Where do you live? I live in Cambridge / I live in England.
Otra curiosidad aparte de que el número de la calle siempre se ponga delante del nombre de la calle, es que el código postal se pone después de la ciudad. Por tanto si quisieras enviar una postal navideña a los residentes de esta casa, deberías escribir esta dirección en el sobre:
33 Orchard St
Cambridge
CB1 1JS
UK

Pues a mí se me ocurre que podría ser una gatera, pero me da la sensación de que está como tabicada, por lo que por ahí no podría entrar un gato… Así que, ni idea!
