‘Teacher’s pet’
“What does Lisa want for her birthday?”
“You know how much she loves historical novels, you can never fail with that.”
“That’s true! She’s such a bookworn.”
“Who me? Absolutely not!”
‘To skip class’
- To skip class (formal): faltar a clase.
“Jonathan, your teacher just called to inform me that you didn’t attend your English lesson today! I hope this is a misunderstanding and you didn’t skip your class!”
- To play truant (informal): hacer pellas, hacer novillos.
“If you keep playing truant you’ll be expelled from this school!”
‘To hit the books’
Si dices ‘I have to hit the books’ quiere decir que necesitas estudiar o hincar los codos.
“Will you join us for the boat party this weekend?”
“Oh I wish, but I’m afraid I have to hit the books if I want to pass my exams.”
